| Very commonly used as a preservative in home-made soaps and cosmetics. Not strictly an essential oil but a Resinoid. Inhaled, benzoin is recommended for treating bronchitis, asthma, coughs and laryngitis. It is a sweet and soothing addition to any blend to treat bronchial problems.
It has a wonderfully warm scent, similar to Vanilla and blends well with Sweet Orange Oil. For aromatherapy, it does best in a light bulb diffuser, as it is thick and difficult to clean to any other kind of diffuser.
Please note that Benzoin is quite thick, perhaps the consistency of molasses at room temperature. If you warm the bottle a bit it will make the oil easier to work with.
