French Green Clay is used at the finest resorts and spas for facial masks and full-body skin detoxification. Also commonly used as a liver cleanse. Known as illite, French Green Clay is a powerful 100% natural, bio-organic material. Produced from quarries in France, it is mineral-rich in healing micro nutrients, and anti-oxidants for the skin. French Green Clay literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances, and impurities from the skin and body. Green Clay can be used for a wide range of common ailments, cosmetic treatments such as beauty masks. Mix with a little water to form a first aid paste for cuts, bruises, minor burns, stings and insect bites - it will absorb impurities and aid healing. Add a hand-full of French Green Clay to bathwater with your chosen essential oils. The mineral salts can lift energy levels and soften the skin!
To make a complexion face mask for oily, spot prone or combination skin - mix 2 teaspoons of Green Clay Paste with 4 drops of your favorite essential oil. Apply to the face for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Tightens the pores and maintains a glowing complexion.
To make a soothing, comforting application for muscles and joints, put a good quantity of French Green Clay into a large glass bowl. Add spring water and mix with a wooden spoon. Allow the clay to absorb the water then add up to 6 drops of Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Ginger or Rosemary essential oils or whatever your favorites are. Mix again to a smooth paste. Apply directly onto the affected part or onto a piece of gauze which is then placed onto the body with the gauze uppermost. Secure with a bandage and leave in place for two hours before renewing if necessary to continue the soothing action of the clay and oils. Never re-use a poultice.
LIVER CLEANSE: The night before you start, mix 1 tsp. Of French Green Clay into 2/3 cup of warm water. Then let it sit undisturbed overnight. Drink each morning for 4 days.
For Soapmaking: French Green Clay is useful for drawing out impurities, good for oily skin. It adds a nice soft green natural color. Note: French green clay should be mixed to a paste before adding to melted soap base. You can do this by adding 1 tablespoon clay to 1/4 cup melted soap base. Mix to a paste and add what you need to the remaining melted soap base. We suggest using 1/2 tablespoon clay to every 2-lbs of soap base. |
